What are the eligibility requirements?
Participants must:
- Must live in a single-family detached residence, a single-family attached residence (such as a townhome), or a single-family manufactured home (such as a mobile home or modular home).
- Be responsible for the electric bill.
- Be the owner of the home or able to secure permission to participate.
- Review any additional requirements through the program’s details page. By participating in this program, you are signifying your agreement to the Terms and Conditions of the Water Energy Demand Response Program.
- Have an eligible heat pump water heater with a Wi-Fi connection.

How are incentives paid?
Payments will be made based on customer enrollment date and participation during each calendar year. The incentives are issued in the form of a rebate check at the end of each calendar year. Customers must participate in at least 75% of the preceding year’s energy event hours to receive their 1st year incentive of $40, plus an additional $10 for participation, for a total 1st year incentive of $50. Customers will receive $10 per year thereafter if they remain enrolled and participate in 75% of called event hours. One incentive payment will be made per account enrolled in the Program at the residence, regardless of the number of enrolled devices. How many heat pump water heaters can I enroll in the program?
Customers can enroll multiple heat pump water heaters in the Water Energy Demand Response Program to maximize savings, however only one incentive will be distributed per electric account.
How will my data be used?
Any information shared with Dominion Energy and Resideo through the Connected Savings portal will be subject to Connected Savings privacy terms and Dominion Energy Terms and Conditions.
Dominion Energy and Resideo treat all customer data as confidential and will only share the data with Dominion Energy-hired vendors specific to implementing the Water Energy Demand Response Program. For evaluation, measurement & verification purposes, your heat pump water heater data may be used in aggregate for reporting purposes to the Virginia State Corporation Commission or North Carolina Utilities Commission. Does my heat pump water heater have to stay connected to Wi-Fi?
Dominion Energy’s Water Energy Demand Response Program relies on communication with your heat pump water heater through a Wi-Fi connection. While temporary outages may not have significant impacts, your heat pump water heater must remain connected to your home’s Wi-Fi to achieve the full benefits of this program. If your heat pump water heater is not connected to Wi-Fi for an extended period, you may be automatically unenrolled from the program(s). Dominion Energy will attempt to inform you via email after your water heater has been offline for 7 days.
How do I unenroll from the Water Energy Demand Response program?
If you would like to unenroll from the Dominion Energy Water Energy Demand Response Program, you can unlink your participation through your device’s app or use the toggle switch to turn off Demand Response.

How do I opt-out of Water Energy Demand Response energy events?
If you do not wish to participate in a Water Energy Demand Response Program energy event, participants can opt-out of an energy event through its mobile app by clicking “Pause Demand Response” for up to 72 hours (about 3 days) on your device app.
