What is Connected Savings?
Connected Savings combines big weather data with smart device data (like that provided by Wi-Fi thermostats) to automatically deliver energy-efficiency savings throughout the year. You can now save energy and money while staying comfortable. It’s a simple and revolutionary, patented idea that is enabled by our unique weather data and engineering expertise.
How does Connected Savings service?
Connected Savings uses data from your Wi-Fi thermostat, and local, real-time weather data to develop a thermodynamic model of your home to understand how it responds to varying weather conditions. Using this model, Connected Savings fine-tunes your thermostat schedule every day based on the forecasted weather, the thermal properties of your home, and your thermostat setpoint schedule. We do not change your setpoints but optimize the time in which they are reached. The results are lower energy usage and costs, without sacrificing comfort.
What energy-savings are typical with Connected Savings?
It depends on the house, the weather and thermostat settings. In your area, you can save between $71 and $117 every year the service is active.
How does weather impact my heating and cooling?
Weather has a big impact to the thermodynamics of every building – changing the length of time it takes to heat up or cool down; the amount of heat or cooling lost through walls, windows and cracks; and the amount of energy required to keep occupants comfortable. For example, the amount of energy an air conditioning unit uses to cool a building varies with outside air temperature—the hotter it is outside, the harder the air conditioner has to work to keep the building cool!
Does weather really have that big of an impact on my heating and cooling costs?
Yes, it does. The HVAC systems you purchase and the quality of construction and materials in your home also matter. But beyond that, temperature, humidity, wind and heat from the sun are the next largest factors in determining how much you pay to keep your home comfortable. Therefore, a more precise understanding of current and expected local weather conditions, and how a home will react to them, allows Connected Savings to optimize energy use and lower energy bills.

What if I make changes to my property or HVAC system?
Good question. Connected Savings continuously updates the model of your home with new data that accounts for changes, including changing seasons, so the impacts of any changes you make will be captured by the model.
What are the eligibility requirements?
To be eligible, you must have an approved Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostat that controls the home’s heating and cooling systems.

This process can take up to 5 business days. You will need to include your Total Connect Comfort (TCC) username. In addition, any feedback you can provide to help improve Connected Savings will be valued.
Do you provide energy usage insights?
We provide a monthly digital customized energy audit. To evaluate how a property withstands the elements, our report provides insight into a property’s energy efficiency, a comparison to similar neighbors, and a bill forecast for the next month. We offer personalized energy-saving tips based on these insights. We will even rate the efficiency of your thermostat setpoint schedules and provide adjustment recommendations to enhance your savings.
How do you score thermostat schedules?
We first create an energy-efficient schedule to match your average thermostat schedule over the past month using regional and seasonal recommended setpoints. Then periods of energy waste (when the average schedule would drive higher energy consumption) and savings (when the average schedule would drive lower energy consumption) are calculated and compared to score the schedule.
