How the Smart

Thermostat program works

It’s super simple! Before periods of high energy demand, known as Peak Time Events, we’ll automatically and briefly adjust your thermostat’s energy usage to pre-cool/pre-heat your home. During the event, your thermostat automatically adjusts to reduce energy use when demand is high. This helps reduce strain on the grid to keep energy more reliable. Smart Thermostat program perks

Receive $25 from PGE when you successfully sign up for the Smart Thermostat program.
Get $25 when you participate in at least 50% of event hours during a summer and/or winter season.
There are typically 5 to 6 events during the winter season and each event is 4 hours or less.

Peak Time Events can occur between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. during the summer season. In the winter season, events can occur between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Opt out of an event at any time by simply changing the temperature on your thermostat.

How to Enroll
